ABOUT AYANNA

Ayanna is a 57ft Dutch Barge built in 2022 by Piper boats Ltd and was launched on the River Thames a few days before Christmas 2022. Ayanna has been a longtime dream of ours and was initially due to be built and launched by May 2020. Our plan was to take her across the channel to the European Waterways, but due to Brexit, we decided not to get her.

 

A couple of years went by and we still yearned for the dream of owning our own Dutch Barge and could see that other boat owners were managing to cruise Europe, albeit with a bit more bureaucracy, so we decided it is now or never. Life is too short and we are not getting any younger.

So, here we have Ayanna - a mix of our names Ayhan & Anna. Some good Turkish friends of ours came up with this name many years ago for something that we were doing at the time, and we never got to use it, so it was good to be able to use Ayanna now. Ayanna is actually a real name meaning  'beautiful flower, elegance and natural aesthetics'.
