Getting to know Ayanna
Having spent what seemed like years preparing for our exciting new life and adventure, having downsized to a smaller house with a very small garden, to at last finally having our Dutch Barge - Ayanna.
When the boat build was finished, we were asked to stay on the boat for a few days whilst parked up in the yard and use the boat as if we were living on it to check for any snagging issues, the boat is then taken by road for the launch. So, in early December 2022 we drive up to Pipers near Stoke on Trent, for a few days and it was then time to unpack all the many, many boxes and find a home for everything. The boxes were loaded on by some of the helpful Piper team.
Ayanna comes with a lot of quite complicated equipment and technology. We were handed a huge plastic file box full of instruction manuals. One instruction manual is a chore to read, let alone many!? Quite daunting, so we had to do that in bite size pieces.
Ayanna was launched 14th December 2022, during a very cold spell, getting to minus 10 degrees, which really tested out the heating system. We were very cosy on board.
Our cat Tinker also had to get used to new surroundings.
