Dunkirk to Nieuwpoort 14th June to 27th June 2025
Going through the narrow Dunkirk Canal system.
Not only was it narrow, but it was also windy and we had the sun in our eyes.
Ayhan had quite the task as it was narrow, bendy and he had the low sun in his eyes.
We now have more lifting bridges than locks. Some are a bit tight.
The water levels were very low and the canal was very narrow in places. We took it slowly.
We are now in Belgium.
The scenery seemed to change as soon as we got to Belgium.
The canal seemed to be better maintained in Belgium.
At least they all seem to speak English in Belgium, which is a great help when phoning ahead for the bridges/locks to be opened.
We have arrived at Verne on the Nieuwpoort Dunkirk Canal.
It was certainly lively. Great atmosphere.
